Earthquake

They suck...

So this is copied from a comment i made to someone else, but honestly i dont feel like taking the time to blog about it.. so here. (with a few edits of course)

I was very freaked out.. I mean i used to be okay with earthquakes..but i dunno, maybe its cause im a mom now and pregnant and hormonal.. I was picking up Aurora's room, she was in the hall crawling around.. then it started shaking, the sound of the window shaking was horrid.. i was like.. OMG..where is my baby? I ran into the hall, where pumpkin had begun crying.. grabbed her and ran... As soon as we hit the front door, who was there to meet me but my dog. Apparently my dad was gardening when the earthquake hit and the gate was open. The dog bolted for my door. We went over to dads.. tried to get ahold of john, but couldnt, finally he called dads cell from his work phone and got to talk to him..

I actually did cry later on. i was shaking sooo bad.. All i could think was, is this going to be the big one that they say we should have someday.. ugh... I was pretty freaked all day long. And all of the stress took quite a toll on my body. I was very sore and achy for the rest of the day. And i mean bad.. I almost thougth about calling the doc, but the baby was kicking and i knew it would go away. I couldnt really go on with the day as planned. I tried to clean a little, when i had expected to do a lot.. i did continue to do all the laundry.. and take Aurora to the park. We also visited my grandma in between the quake and the park. Im still sore, but not nearly as bad.

The weekend

Was pretty boring. We ran some errands.. went to the mall.. I think the big highlight was that we bought the baby's coming home outfit.. Ill take pics of it.. its soo cute! And we bought aurora totally cute black and pink dress.. just because it was adorable..and another outfit for the baby. Then we came back home.. Sunday john had to work from home.. so aurora and i went out house hunting with dad.. its one of our hobbies..we are weird..we know..lol Then we came home and sat around the house.. that was pretty much it.. John normally has Mondays off but he is working overtime today.. So that was our weekend.. just spending time together.

Ohh and i forgot to mention, finally john got to feel the baby kick. Ive been trying to get him to feel it on and off, but everytime i put his hand on my belly, the baby stops kicking!

Splash!

Today was a special morning..well arnt they all special.. but this morning was extra special to me. Aurora woke up and had her morning sippy and I went to put her back in her crib like normal.. And she had her head on my shoulder and just nuzzled me..and i rocked her.. its not unusual for her to do that, but this morning i just felt so wonderful. And yet so surprised at how big my baby has gotten. Gee they grow up fast!

Well then later on in the day we went over to grandpas and i started clearing out his spare room. I was originally going to use it as a photo studio, but i was too busy. So it became a storage space, there was so much stuff in it that you couldn't even walk into the room. Well i started sorting through a lot of it. Put some stuff in a pile to be taken to the salvation army, some to be stored, some to be displayed and some to be thrown away. Ive still got a lot to do. Auroras beautiful canopy bed (which she wont be old enough for until she is like seven..its tall and big) is stored over there, our armoire is there, and we are going to be putting our pretty white desk over there. So basically we have decided to turn the room into a room for aurora and the new baby.. a grandkids room.. i think we will be going with a girly pink theme, since mostly auroras big girl furniture is stored there.

Then we loaded up dads truck with the stuff for salvation army and all our bags to go to the water park afterwards. We dropped the stuff off, headed to my grandmas to change into our bathing suits and then the water park.

Aurora had a blast at the water park. She crawled around the shallow end of the play area..and sat in my lap a bit. Then we went into the water sprayers..she loved them.. in and out of all the water.. Then into the lazy river..i think she would have like that more if she hadn't been sausaged into the life vest..its not that she was unhappy, but she wasnt as happy as pre-lifevest. Then we went back to the water sprayers..our fav And then back into the shallow play area.. She kept trying to crawl into the deeper area.. i mean its not that deep, but too deep for her to crawl into. She's Adventurous! Then we got all toweled off and went home. : )
What will we do tomorrow!

The park!

We went to the park on Wednesday, i slacked off on blogging about it..

We went to a park that we hadn't taken aurora to yet, actually my father hadn't gone to the park with us before. Normally John and i take her on Mondays. Well this park was empty..yay! And so we felt more free to let Aurora roam.. Also it was being cleaned by the park maintenance while we were there. Aurora loved the swings, as always.. Then she crawled on some of the park equipment. Then onto a rocking horse for a short time, then to the big swings with mommy. Then we let her play in the sand for a long long time. It was the first time ever that she got to play in the sand.. she really seemed entranced by it. The rest of the day we spent mostly at my grandmothers.. we left from the park to her home to visit.. we were there for three hours or more.. and then came home so aurora could nap.

Children's museum!

So we got up at a little after seven this morning and oh boy was i sore from yesterday. Pumpkin ate and then we both went back to sleep, her in her crib and me in my bed of course. Then I got up at ten am and pumpkin was still asleep! I had to wake her up, she was so asleep i opened her door and came in and took pictures of her and she still didn't wake up. Then we went through the regular stuff of getting her dressed and ready for the day. She ate her breakfast, then i got dressed. Then we called her grandpa to see if he wanted to go to the children's museum with us.

Got the diaper bag all ready and then headed out. The children's museum is in our town..like a two minute drive.. and we got there and the Moms club was there.. I saw a lot of moms, though its kinda hectic so we didn't have a whole lot of time to chat. Aurora enjoyed it. She loved crawling in the play room with the other kiddo's, though there were a very small amount of crawlers there, most were older kids that could walk. Then we went through the other parts of the museum. There was like a bug exhibition..She got to crawl through a maze..supposed to simulate grass.. and then played with the worm wall, the termite wall, the ant wall, and the mole hole wall. Grandpa pointed out the spider wall and we looked at the bird wall. She also got to play with the fake garden.. it was made of bits of plastic and then fake plants. She got to sit on the carousel...it was out of service, but that was good for us since she wouldn't actually be able to ride it without falling off. Then we went on the bus they have in the museum...its just a little bus you can get in and play in. Then we did a mirror thing.. and a shadow room thing... we went through their little nature walk, looking at all the animals.. and more.. Towards the end she was rubbing her eyes.. we were there for like two hours at least. She was pointing at all kinds of things and quiet the whole time, just taking things in. Then i took her in the bathroom to change her diaper.. no one else was there, she was laying on the changing table they have in there... and she was talking up a storm.. telling me all about it in her baby talk..lol

Dad and I picked up lunch on the way home. Then we we got home it was time for pumpkin to eat. She ate while we did and then went down for a nap. She was pretty tired. She had quite a morning!

The beach!

We went down to the beach today. Its about a forty mile round trip... We parked, paid 10 bucks for parking.. thinking about getting a seasonal pass, cause we love the beach. This was pumpkins first trip. We got there, unpacked, weren't a whole lot of people there.. There were people, but nothing like a weekend. We put our stuff down, pumpkin was loving it. Got her changed into her swim suit and rubbed down with sun screen. Then john and i headed into the water with pumpkin.. she was talking and giggling and having a blast. She loved it.. We each took turns playing with her in the water. Her grandpa came down and held her. So john and i went out into the water together. Pumpkin and grandpa watched for a little while and then went up to the blanket to watch the water and the people.

The ocean was great.. John and i splashed around. I got totally knocked on my butt by a wave.. completely underwater. I freaked john and dad out a bit..lol.. The first thing i grabbed when i went under was my sunglasses! They were saved the disaster of being swept out to sea.. very proud of myself for that..lol. Then i got back up. We were still standing around.. Then some brat kid decided to boogie board with his friend like two feet in front of us. So he comes tearing towards us (like i said, beach was not packed and he was literally right in front of us and i can assure you that we were there first) and he says "watch out", yeah stupid where am i supposed to go, my husbands to one side.. if i go back you'll still hit me and if i go left you'll still hit me... so yeah, he hit me... i tried to push him out of the way and still got knocked down..he literally ran right into me! He didn't even say sorry. I was livid.. Then him and his little friend continued to play in the area, so i made it very clear that his behavior was unacceptable, i hope he overheard.. brat! UGH.. I told john that if he came towards us again that he was to knock him right out of the way, kid or not, i don't need him knocking my pregnant butt down again!

I was leery of getting knocked down again.. my leg hurt a bit from when he hit me with his body and boogie board, so i kinda steered us a little to the left, since the kid was obviously not moving.. Oh well. I didn't let it ruin my fun.. We just ignored them and kept splashing about for a little while and then went up to play with pumpkin. We dried off a bit and then i sat down. I told dad, who obviously hadn't seen, all about the fiasco with the kid... Very loudly i might add.. hoping his parents were in ear shot... so they could control their brat.. (I'm telling you.. he was right in front of us.. he came out to boogie board and decided to do it right in front of us..) John kept trying to keep me from being too loud because apparently his parents were right next to us, i don't know how john could tell.

Anyways. I got pumpkin changed out of her bathing suit and into her clothes. Tried to get as much sand off her hiney as possible. Then gave her some snacks. John, dad and i had some sandwiches i had made. Then we packed up and went back to the car. We would have stayed longer but aurora was very exhausted and it was her nap time. Dad and aurora waited in the car while john and i showered off and then changed our clothes. Then we went on our way home.

Oh and i almost forgot one of the best parts of the day.. there were dolphins! I tried to get a pic as best i could, but only ended up getting a tiny bit of their fin in the pic.. There was a group of them, pretty darn close to the beach.. and they were playing and jumping fully out of the water. It was an awesome sight. The lifeguard boat even came out and sat aways from them.. I'm thinking to keep any idiots from trying to approach the dolphins..they were really close.

Tired

Well we got up around nine today (well actually at eight to feed pumpkin, but she went back to sleep). John started work at ten.. he worked from home. Pumpkin and I got ready and went with my father to visit my aunt and grandma. We were there until one when it was pumpkins nap time. We then drove around looking at open houses.. well actually since pumpkin was asleep, dad looked at the houses and I stayed in the car with aurora. Then she woke up around two and we went through a few houses with her and then home.

The rest of the day was just spent chillin.. john worked in the living room so we could all be together.. he went in the bedroom when he had an hour or so left for work. I did some laundry.. thats about it.. not much going on..

Im hoping and praying that maybe we will buy a house in a year.. it all depends on the market. Cali is still wayyy overpriced and we wont be able to buy until the houses start having realistic prices..

Hectic days...do they ever end

So today has been pretty hectic. The repairman came out for the back tenants stove, needs to order a part for it. While he was here he took a look at my stove. Its perfect, not broken at all, we need to have some electrical done. Apparently the stove isnt hooked up correctly, the person we had put it in must not have done it right.. so its been arching and could possibly burn the house down. So even though the stove is working now, the repairman told me to not use it until we fix the electric.

Nikki, my bestest, came over today and we attempted to watch the move Penelope.. Well it took all day, but we got through it..lol. We had quite a few interruptions.. pumpkin of course, but she wasnt bad at all... my aunt and grandma came by, the repairman of course, the neighbors, my dad.. by the end of it nikki was astonished at how every few minutes someone showed up at my house.

John and I had spent most of the morning together, but most of the afternoon he was catching up on some sleep then messing around online. I dont think he wanted to hang out with the girls..lol.

Some good and some bad news

So i had my prenatal today. They went over the results of my big ultrasound. Went in.. did my weight.. so far weight gain is 0 pounds. They arnt concerned because they would like me to keep it under 15. Then urine.... which..lets just say i need to drink more water..lol.. Then she said that the ultrasound showed that the baby was measuring on time, looking great, looking healthy, saw everything they needed to. So basically, he looked great. So then she used the doppler to find the heartbeat. He was squirming all over the place. She got the heartbeat, good and strong.. Then she said there is something i need to tell you....

She went on to explain that my placenta has implanted lower than normal.. That it will probably just fix itself as i get farther along, however that in some rare instances there is a chance that it will grow over the cervix. That if that happens and i start to dilate it can cause the placenta to tear away from the uterine wall an cause bleeding, so if i have any bleeding then i need to go into labor and delivery right away. She said that my placenta is low but no where near my cervix right now and is not touching it in any way. She said she has full belief that it will just correct itself as the pregnancy continues. So then i asked what the chances of c-sections are with this and she said that if it does grow over the cervix then I will have to have a c-section. But again assured me that she thinks all will go well. She also informed me that because of this they will be doing an ultrasound again at 32 weeks, to check on the condition of things. Im pretty worried about it. I really want to avoid a c-section.. i had no birthing problems with aurora and i would liked to have a great experience like i did last time. And being anemic, i do not want to be cut!

Need a nap already!

The day isnt even over and im exhausted. LOL. Got up this morning, took a shower.. aurora played at my feet with the water and her toys in the shower. Got aurora dressed, got me dressed. Then got her diaper bag ready. Called dad and had him come over and then we set out. We went grocery shopping.. we went to three different stores. Spent 270 dollars on groceries.. saved like 169 with coupons and member savings.. so essentially we bought over 400 dollars worth of groceries. We have so much food that my cupboards are full of canned goods, the top of the fridge is covered in cereal and baby essentials. My Fridge and Freezer are both full and I had to send food to be stored in dads freezer! It was a lot of money, but i got all kinds of stuff, diapers for baby number two(aurora didnt need any diapers this time, i bought a ton last time), toothpaste, razors, baby eczema wash and baby eczema lotion (those were expensive!), formula, Gerber baby food, Gerber baby snacks, juice for baby, juice for the family, six pounds of ground beef, chicken breasts, three fillets of salmon, three premade burger patties, four packages of hot dogs, yogurt, ice cream, cereal, three packages of lunch meat, three loaves of bread, shredded cheese, regular sharp cheese, two jumbo cartons of large eggs, sour cream, and the list goes on and on..(you get the idea) It was a ton of food. Dad eats over here for breakfast, lunch and dinner.. so we are feeding three adults and a baby.

Got home, put all of it away, after cleaning out my fridge. I am determined to keep up the cooking even though my stove is broken. So i sent our salmon over to dads fridge since i will be using his stove to cook tonight. I will try to make as much as possible here in my microwave and then cook what i have to at dads then bring it back. We cant eat over there because dad doesnt have a dining room table, and auroras high chair is at our house, plus we have all the drinks and such.

And yet my day isnt even over. Aurora crawled around the living room for about ten minutes, then she went down for her nap. I have a prenatal at 3:20, right now its almost 2:20.. After the prenatal appointment we will head off to Sam's club to buy three gallons of milk (they have the best price on milk) and a like three months supply of toilet paper. Then maybe Michael's or wal mart or Lowe's.. for some nursery decor... Then home to cook dinner.

Pissed off..

Aurora didnt have a very long morning nap.. so i put her down for an afternoon nap around four.. but she just played and played in her crib, so i eventually got her up. Well john comes home.. and around six thirty aurora is acting tired.. so i ask john to put her down for a nap.. He does.. then he goes onto his xbox and me onto the computer.. well time just goes by.. and i keep thinking.. gosh she has been napping for a long time she must have been tired! So then it gets to be like eight twenty.. her bedtime routine normally starts at eight thirty! So i go in to wake her up and she is sleeping in her swing! Im so angry at john right now! He knows that the swing is no longer for napping, that i have been working on getting her to nap in her crib for the past week and that it has been going wonderfully! I really hope this doesnt set her back.

Oh and since she now weighs too much for her swing.. i took the power cord and hid it.. now he cant rely on it anymore.. ugh.. men!

Tomorrow

Is finally my next perinatal! Gosh it feels like its been forever!!! They will be going over the ultrasound we had last month on 6/23... so hopefully they say the baby is a-ok. Im pretty sure they will, since they prolly would have called if not, and had me do additional ultrasounds, but we will see. I will also find out if my due date is changing.. Im thinking it will be pushed back a few days, like three..

I cant wait. Im so excited! Its at 3:20 in the afternoon though.. so ill be waiting all day long!

Crazy busy!

Today was very busy. I had to go with my dad to the doctors today. They wanted me to bring him in because he isnt taking his blood pressure meds. And he also hurt his foot. We were there forever! We saw the doc, then got sent for x rays of his foot, then to the lab for blood work, then back to the doc to look at the x rays. Luckily the foot isnt broken. And his blood pressure has been so good lately that he doesnt need to take any meds at all! His kidney function tests are a little off, he is slightly anemic, and a bit of high cholesterol.. So he has got to watch what he eats.

Then we had to rush home. I hadnt eaten yet and it was noon. We go through the drive through at McDonald's on the way home. Get home by 12:30. We have a tv repairmen out.. he got there at about 1:30.. messed with the tv. Couldnt fix the problem right there, but ordered the part to fix it. So in a few weeks that hopefully will be done.

Then during all of that, the current moms club co-president came by to get some checks, chatted with her for a bit.. By the time all this was done it was like 3pm. Dad, Aurora, and I drove out to look at some brand new homes being built in town. They are pretty nice, but very very tiny yards.. more like condo yards.. The homes are large and nice.

Then home.. Put aurora down for a nap, though she didnt fall asleep..she just played for about thirty minutes. So she must not have been tired. Got her out of the crib and then john got home.

Now here i am. : )

May offend some...

This was posted in a Moms group im in and i just felt like sharing.

Letter from one 'Angry Woman'
I don't know who wrote it but they should have signed it. Some powerful words. This woman should run for president.
Written by a housewife from New Jersey and sounds like it! This is one ticked off lady.

'Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001?
Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was 'desecrated' when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet?...Well, I don't. I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for chopping off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide .

I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured: I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed 'special' food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran.' Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and-you guessed it-I don't care!!

If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends. Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behavior!

If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great Country! And may I add:

'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem' -- Ronald Reagan

I have another quote that I would like to add AND.......I hope you forward all this.

'If we ever forget that we're One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under' Also by.. Ronald Reagan

One last thought for the day:

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the Anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England 's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said: 'A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in.. And how many want out.'

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ 2. The American G. I.

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

The doughnut

This happened yesterday, but i meant to share the story. I thought it was funny. The electrician was here to repair our outlet. Aurora was playing in the living room. I was sitting in our chair, john was on the couch playing video games and my dad had just walked in the door. Im eating wonderfully fattening chocolate mini doughnuts.. a treat that i had bought at walmart the night before. Well Aurora gets curious when anyone starts eating around her. So she crawls over to me and pulls up and stands in front of me, holding on to one leg. Talking to me in baby gibberish. My dad strikes up a convo with me about electricity.. So I get into this discussion with him and a few seconds in i realize aurora is no longer talking.. and i look down.. and what do i find?

My daughter has fully pulled a mini doughnut out of the carton and is standing there eating the chocolate off of it! I mean she was going at the thing! First chocolate she ever had and man did she like it. I took it away, she doesnt need the sugar.. And i threw them out.. neither of us needed the sugar.. But i thought it was too cute. I should have taken a picture of her cute little face all covered in chocolate.. and the mauled doughnut.

Everyday seems to be a busy day

I dont know why, but it seems as though i am always busy. It is never ending. I was hoping to go to the beach today, but i had too much to do. John had a dentist appointment, my father had an appointment somewhere else. I had to email his doctor about the blood pressure medicine that he wont take. Johns dentist appointment didnt go so great. Previous to meeting me, john hadnt gone to the dentist but like twice in his life..and he had dental insurance when i met him! I of course made him go and have since made him go, but recently we decided to switch dentists, so he was without one for about a year (mostly due to the fact that we kept pushing his cleaning back because of work, then we switched and he still ended up waiting a few weeks to be seen). Well his teeth are really bad, actually his gums.. We already knew he had issues, but apparently brushing once a day just isnt enough. He needs to brush morning and night, floss, use mouth wash and if at all possible, use an electric toothbrush.. so we bought him an electric tooth brush. He has another appointment to see the dentist in like three weeks, because he really needs a deep cleaning. I think that this dentist really made an impression on him, the last one didnt seem to. But he is really determined to brush multiple times a day, floss, gargle and do all that he can to stop the condition of his gums from getting any worse. The dentist even told me to take care of him like i do my dad, to get on him about his teeth, and to make sure he goes to his appointments. I have to say, i love our new dentist.. well she isnt really new, ive known her my whole live, she has always been my dads dentist as well as the rest of my family.. so the switch was really the best for us. The previous dentist we chose was out of convenience, he was really close by and open on Saturdays which worked well for the schedule that john used to work.

Oh and then tomorrow i think im going to have to force my father to go to the doctors. He hit his foot on something yesterday and its really hurting him... he thinks its either really badly sprained or broken (a toe), but he is too stubborn to go and make the appointment himself.

Then later on this week, we have a tv repairman coming to look at our tv that we are having some issues with. The next day after that i have a prenatal appointment, where we will go over my big ultrasound results and all that jazz (finally!) And then on Saturday a repairman is coming to look at the back tenants stove.

Does it ever end..

Plus somewhere in there id like to take time to find and buy the new baby a crib.. and start working on the nursery!

Frustrating day

Today has been an off day. I woke up with a migraine.. So thats no fun.. John worked from home. I watched aurora for the majority of the day. Then i started falling asleep while sitting on the couch.. not safe for Aurora. So i called dad over to watch her while i slept. I didnt go to bed early enough last night and woke up at Auroras norm of 7:30am. Dad watched her from about 4:20 to 5:50. I woke up and heard her crying and calling for mama.. So i got up and dad left. John finished his work, but then had to do school work. So Around 6:45 john came into the living room. Shortly after i began dinner.. Or i tried.. My stove/oven is not working at all. Lights are on, clock works, says its working, but its not heating. This stove is only a year old, top of the line whirlpool.. why isnt it working! Thankfully it has an extended service agreement bought for it. So they are coming out to fix it.. but the catch is.. They cant come out until the 25th! Thats over a week and a half away.. how am i supposed to feed my family. I dont just cook for me, i cook for john, dad.. and occasionally pumpkin gets our food too. So tonight i went next door to dads and cooked on our old stove that he now has.. which works great.. ugh. But still, its a hassle to trek all the food, pans and everything to his place. So im a bit frustrated. I just hope they fix it.

Fourth of July

Here is one of my fav pics of my hubby and daughter on the fourth of july. They were playing the in sprinklers.

The day went well after having to change our plans cause my dad was pretty sick and we didnt want to leave him alone.

Finally getting things done!

Today was a very productive day. My mom came over and we moved two free standing stoves. I finally got my stove back and im soo happy. An electrician came out and fixed an outlet in the kitchen that we have been having trouble with. We originally thought it was the microwave and replaced it.. well yeah..the issue was still happening. Now we have the outlet fixed and everything is fine.

The biggest thing i have left to do is the nursery. Ive got to sand down all the walls so i can get a smooth surface to apply the primer to.. or whatever its called.. basically i need to cover up the old paint.. which happens to be a mural and so ive got to cover up a varying range of colors. Then after thats done i can paint the nursery. Ive got the color scheme and design all laid out! And i have the a-ok from my midwife to paint. She says to be in a well ventilated room and to not over do it.

Feeling odd...

We know that with baby number two we want to replace the bottles that we had with aurora.. because she thrashed them. We are gonna put out the extra money to have the borne free bottles. Im hoping to breastfeed, but eventually i will pump and on occasion use a bottle. Im really getting into the idea of glass bottles (which borne free sells) as well as plastic.

Im also really considering cloth diapers. John refuses to clean cloth diapers, he assumes that at some point i would ask him to. So Ive thought about a diaper service, i know they are pricey, so im gonna look into that. I really wanted to cloth diaper Aurora, but i was afraid i would be overloaded with being a new mom.

I really dont know whats happening to me.. lol..

Bad Habits

I know most of us Mommy's out there try to steer our kids away from the things that we as parents consider bad habits. I have tried to keep aurora from doing those things which I might consider a bad habit, but one slipped through. One that i feel is a big one.

She naps in her swing. She has for a long time. As an infant she napped in her bassinet and her portable pack and play. I think she napped in her crib once. We moved her over to her crib at about two and a half months when she started sleeping through the night.. she slept in her crib at night. She had really bad congestion problems as a baby and the doctor suggested her sleeping upright.. in her car seat. We did that one night, but realized it just wasnt for us.. So we bought her a wedge and she slept on that, but it didnt recline very much. So we got into the habit of letting her sleep in her swing during the day since it was more upright. Well now at ten months old.. she only naps in her swing, maybe the car, occasionally the couch.. Well she is about a pound away from outgrowing her swing. So i figured its time for a change.

So yesterday we went cold turkey with the swing. I put her down in the crib and she screamed for about twenty minutes. I went in twice during those twenty minutes to soothe her.. She eventually fell asleep. I was using the Ferber method, so if she had cried about 30 minutes, i would have gotten her up and tried again. But luckily she fell asleep! She was asleep for about an hour and a half. I went in and woke her up after and hour an a half, what i normally let her nap for.. though i might push it to two hours.. and just forgo an afternoon nap. I praised her for napping in her crib like a big girl! I was so proud.

So then today hubby and I put her down to sleep at the same time, i like routines, and she cried for a few minutes and then complained, for a total of maybe six minutes and then fell right to sleep!!! Im so proud. I hope it keeps going this way.

Hey people

I never seem to have time to blog!

Pregnancy is going good. I have a prenatal check up next week. I bet they will move my due date back a bit.

I just got over being sick, had a bad cold. Aurora is getting over it too. John just caught it, so hopefully he gets better soon.

Oh and im so excited.. the cover for the infant seat arrived the other day. Ive got to upload the pics, we got a blue one for our baby boy.

Yesterday I bought aurora cute little turtle baby pool, with a spray thing on it. She loved it! I have pics ill add to this later. She splashed and played. She wasnt in it long, her attention span isnt so great at ten months old.. lol. Oh and we got her some new toys.. a remote that talks in three different languages, a train that spits balls out while moving and a lion that she can use to help her walk that later becomes a toy to sit and scoot on.
